Read and write speed of my Dell M6500 left room for improvement as well.
Time to upgrade my 7200RPM Hard drive to a Intel SSD drive. Since I only store current projects on my local drive I did not need a large drive 240 GB was enough for me.
Using the Apricorn SATA Wire Notebook HDD upgrade kit made it an easy task.
Here are the steps required:
- Transfer the Solidworks license (to be safe as the hardware of your computer changes)
- Plug in the Apricorn SATA Wire and new SSD
- Select your current drive as the source and the SSD as the destination.
- Let the software transfer the data
- Remove the original drive
- Install the new SSD
- Start Windows
- Activate SolidWorks
- Enjoy faster boot up read and write speed and reduced power consumption.
